I love Judson Beaumont’s work, which contains an ample amount of imagination and whimsy. Every one of his designs has magic in it - when you first see one of his pieces, you see a story taking place (“Hey, that table’s peeing on the carpet!”). It’s only after you’ve taken the whole piece in that you realize that Beaumont has managed to keep the piece functional despite having made it “come to life.” In my dream house, there’s definitely furniture from his collection.
I really, really was trying to get through this article on Georgia O’Keefe here, but I was tremendously distracted by the picture above.
Dear God, why didn’t Georgia O’Keefe shave her armpits? Or if she didn’t want to, why does she have to raise her arms in photographs other people have to see?
Evidently the people that found O’Keefe’s paintings of flowers that look like vaginas shocking, but were okay with inappropriate hirsuteness.
Guess that explains Frida Kahlo, too.

I love this quote. I think it applies to all art, including comedy. In many ways, comedy - and art - is about finding the universal in the personal.
